I’m a little behind in my blogging and have so much to share! So please forgive us for the immense about of blogging which has already begun, but hopefully it’ll be well worth your time!
Over this lovely Thanksgiving break, I’ve done lots of movie watching and reading and here are some lovely words of wisdom.
“I don’t care if you don’t like each other. But you will respect each other and maybe…just maybe you will learn to play this game like men.”
-Coach Boone “Remember the Titans”
Mama: There is always something left to love. And if you ain’t learned that, you ain’t learned nothing. (Looking at her) Have you cried for that boy today? I don’t mean for yourself and for the family ’cause we lost the money. I mean for him: what he been through and what it done to him. Child, when do you think is the time to love somebody the most? When they done good and made things easy for everybody? Well then, you ain’t through learning – because that ain’t the time at all. It’s when he’s at his lowest and can’t believe in hisself ’cause the world done whipped him so! when you starts measuring somebody, measure him right, child, measure him right. Make sure you done taken into account what hills and valleys he come through before he got to wherever he is.”
-Lorraine Hansberry “A Raisin in the Sun”
I am literally moved to tears by this as it details a love that so few of us are willing to exhibit. We beg, nay we plead for others to love us this way and yet we are unable to do the same ourselves. Imagine a world in which people love this way–how much greater would our lives be? At the core of our relationship and the very love Loman and I have for one another lies an incredible desire and longing to love one another this way and be loved by this amazing love. However, a love like this can only come from two heart who has been captured by the ultimate Love.
